It’s probably a safe bet that few people enter the BJD hobby thinking, “Oh boy, I sure would like a space mermaid cyborg with a skeletal tail,” but Coral Reef Doll has given us something we didn’t know we’d love.
This 1/4 scale (MSD-size) doll, simply named Hammerhead Shark, blends a slightly worn futuristic aesthetic with a classical fantasy edge. Merfolk BJDs are nothing new, and while this isn’t Coral Reef’s first cybernetic design, Hammerhead Shark boldly fuses both elements into one cohesive concept. Her helmet , with its forward, lengthwise protrusions, evokes the distinctive cephalofoil of a hammerhead shark, and the fin along her back further reinforces the shark inspiration. Her default fins are more generally fish-like; however, for those who want a stronger shark silhouette, optional fin and tail parts are available to order separately.
Hammerhead Shark can be ordered in Wall White, Peony White, MIA White, and MIA Pink resins. She is both quantity-limited and time-limited: only 20 nude dolls and 20 fullsets will be available. If all slots are claimed before the final ordering date of February 28, 2026, the ordering period will close early.
